Geared DC Motor

An RC Servo Motor operates using a closed-loop feedback system that accurately controls the position of its output shaft. When a control signal (PWM signal) is received from a controller, the servo’s internal electronics compare the commanded position with the actual shaft position measured by an internal potentiometer or position sensor.

If the positions do not match, the control circuit drives the DC motor through a gear reduction system until the desired position is reached. Once the target position is achieved, the motor automatically stops and holds that position with high precision.

Basic Operating Process

1. Receive Control Signal
   The servo receives a PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) signal from a receiver, microcontroller, or control board.
2. Position Comparison
   The internal control circuit compares the requested position with the current shaft position.
3. Motor Adjustment
   The DC motor rotates through a precision gear train to move the output shaft toward the target angle.
4. Feedback Correction
   The position sensor continuously monitors the shaft position and provides feedback to the controller.
5. Position Holding
   When the target position is reached, the servo maintains its position and resists external forces.
